Rivendell Invitation for 2025 Spring Prep School Showcase
Prep Showcase will take place August 12th-13th 2025 at Boca Ice. Schedule does not conflict with 2011 Alliance Tryouts. More info about the event below.
All Rivendell players will attend the Prep School Showcase for a discounted price of $299 (regularly $389).
In addition, and as a token of gratitude to my friends Jeff and Dennis for all the great work they've done in building this program, I will provide all Rivendell families in attendance (at no extra cost) all of the following:
New England Prep School and College Tours 2025 (organized by SoFlo Showcases)
SSAT Diagnostic Testing and Assessment (Standardized Test used for admission to Prep School, https://www.ssat.org/)
Prep School Application Timeline Brochure
Comprehensive List of New England Boarding Schools with Hockey Coaches Contact Info
Personalized Player Evaluation from the 2025 Prep School Showcase
Space is limited so please register promptly. We have space reserved for the Rivendell Program at the moment, but registration remains open for all other applicants as well.
6 New England Boarding Schools will be in attendance at the event April 12th-13th, as well as 1 Admissions Consultant:
Tim Joncas (Head Coach Varsity Hockey), Westminster School (Simsbury, CT)
Andrew Will (Head Coach Varsity Hockey), Salisbury School (Salisbury, CT)
Dave Ries (Head Coach Varsity Hockey), The Brooks School (North Andover, MA)
Craig Badger (Head Coach Varsity Hockey), Frederick Gunn School (Washington, CT)
Scott Harff (Head Coach Varsity Hockey), Saint-Paul’s School (Concord, NH)
Ross Olsson (Head Coach Varsity Hockey), Hillside School (Marlborough, MA)
Brad D’Arco (Admissions Consultant), D’Arco and Associates
The purpose of the Showcase is to provide on-ice exposure for the players, in practice and game situations, to the coaches in attendance. The event will also provide information about the Prep School path, as well as every other hockey option your children will have (i.e. Hockey Academies, AAA Hockey, Junior Hockey, College Hockey, etc.).
If you have thought about Prep School Hockey before, have no idea what it entails, or are somewhere in the middle, this Showcase will benefit you. You will receive first-hand information about all the ins and outs of Prep, as well as receive honest feedback about your player's potential from the coaches themselves. You will find out exactly how to go about embarking on the Prep Journey at the conclusion of the event, or at the very least you will be armed with information on every other possibility at your disposal for the time being.
For the younger players (2012-2011), it will be a great opportunity to showcase your talent and get on the coaches short-list for the years to come, when they will need to decide which players to take for their teams. For players who are less advanced at the moment, the coaches will tell you exactly where you stand currently and what needs to be improved on in order to play Prep School Hockey, or to continue down any serious hockey path otherwise. These coaches see and hear from thousands of players on a yearly basis, so being able to make a personal connection with them is invaluable.
Players will benefit from 2 1-hour practices with the coaches themselves, as well as 1 1-hour-15-minute game, scouted by the coaches. All families will also benefit from the 2-Hour Admissions/Hockey Seminar and Q&A. We will have coaches, former players, parents of players, etc. on the Panel to answer any school or hockey related questions you have.
Lastly, attendees will all gain direct lines of communication to the coaches present, as well as any other Prep Coach in New England via myself (Patrick Spano). I am a phone call away from any coach and would be happy to make introductions for your players.
Please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions. For those who were not in attendance last night, I, Patrick Spano, am the organizer of the Showcase. I am a former Prep School (Westminster School 2012) and NCAA D1 (Yale 2017) hockey goalie. My goal is to connect great players and families from South Florida with interested New England Prep School coaches through this Showcase. Prep School was the most influential step in my career and I want to educate as many people as possible about its potential benefits.
Thank you all and looking forward to a great event!
Sincerely,
Patrick Spano
